This Privacy Policy describes how BK Benefits Consultants, LLC. (“BK Benefits Consultants,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit selfemployedhealthbenefits.com (SelfEmployedHealthBenefits.com) or otherwise interact with us through it (the “Site”).
1. Who We Are
BK Benefits Consultants is a Missouri-licensed insurance entity producer (License #3004163368 · NPN 21307422). SelfEmployedHealthBenefits.com is one of the websites owned and operated by BK Benefits Consultants, LLC. We operate the Site as a marketing brand. We do not directly hold appointments with insurance carriers and do not place insurance policies through this entity. Instead, when you submit an inquiry, your inquiry is reviewed by an individually licensed insurance producer who is appointed with carriers through their contracted agency. Our own producers include producers appointed with carriers through Compass Health Consultants. If your inquiry falls outside our own producers’ licensing, expertise, or available capacity, we may instead direct your inquiry to another licensed insurance producer who we have verified is licensed in your state for the product you have requested.
The Site is a single-page website through which you can request that a licensed insurance producer contact you about coverage options. It does not offer user accounts, logins, or a client portal, and we do not collect usernames, passwords, or other account credentials through it.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us
When you complete the request form on the Site, we collect the information you submit: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, the type of coverage you are interested in (health, dental, and/or vision), and who needs coverage. The form deliberately contains no free-text field, and we ask that you not submit health or medical information through the form. Health details, if any are needed, are gathered later by the licensed insurance producer working your inquiry, through channels appropriate for that information.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect technical information about your visit, including your IP address, device and browser type, referring page, marketing campaign attribution (UTM parameters), the Google click identifier (gclid) when you arrive from a Google ad, Google Analytics 4 client and session identifiers, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies (described in Section 6) to support these functions.
Information we receive in connection with your inquiry
When you request a quote through the Site, the licensed insurance producer assigned to your inquiry may receive underwriting and eligibility information from insurance carriers in response, and may share that information with us as part of the response to you.
What we do not collect
We collect contact information about you only when you submit it on this Site. We do not purchase, rent, or otherwise receive your contact information from third-party marketing partners, lead generators, lead aggregators, or list brokers. If we hold your name, email address, or phone number, it is because you entered it into the form on this Site yourself.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your inquiry and direct it to a licensed insurance producer who can develop and present coverage options to you (as described in Section 1);
- contact you and market our own products and services to you across the channels you have consented to — including by phone, text message, email, and postal mail — about insurance products, quotes, renewals, educational content, and other communications we believe may be of interest to you, even if you do not become a customer;
- create and preserve records of the consents you give us, as described in Sections 6 and 7;
- operate, maintain, secure, analyze, and improve the Site and our marketing;
- measure the effectiveness of our advertising (see Section 6 for how conversion measurement works on this Site);
- comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only as described below.
Insurance carriers
When you ask for a quote or request that an application be submitted, the licensed insurance producer handling your inquiry provides your information to the relevant insurance carrier(s), at your direction, to develop quotes and process the application.
Licensed insurance producers — including transfers we are paid for
We do not place insurance policies ourselves, so every inquiry submitted on this Site goes to a licensed insurance producer — connecting you with one is the service we provide. That producer is one of our own licensed producers, or a licensed insurance producer or agency named on our partner roster, whom we have verified holds a current producer license in your state for the product you requested. The receiving producer may contact you directly by phone, text message, and email, and may market health, dental, vision, and life insurance products and services to you.
We may be paid for a transfer to a producer named on the roster. Under some state privacy laws, transferring your information to another company in exchange for payment is a “sale” or “share” of your personal information, and we describe it that way here so there is no ambiguity. We are paid whether or not you buy anything.
Any producer who may receive your inquiry is named in advance on our partner roster. We record which version of that roster was in effect when you submitted your request; a producer added to the roster afterwards was not named in your authorization and will not receive your information.
You authorize this transfer on the request form, by a separate checkbox that is not pre-checked, and the form tells you before you check it exactly what is transferred, who may receive it, that we may be paid, and what the recipient may and may not do with it. You can withdraw that authorization at any time through Your Privacy Choices, by emailing optout@selfemployedhealthbenefits.com, or by any other reasonable means — you never have to use a particular channel, and we will not treat you differently for withdrawing. A withdrawal applies to information we have already collected as well as to anything you submit later, and we check it again before any transfer rather than only at the time you first contacted us.
Withdrawing stops the transfer — including a transfer to one of our own licensed producers, who is named on the roster on the same terms as anyone else. It does not erase what you have already sent us: BK Benefits Consultants still holds that information and may still contact you about insurance products and services, as the notice on the request form says. You can stop that separately — see Section 5.
Producers who receive your inquiry may use it only to offer you the insurance you asked about. They are required — by the authorization you give and by contract — to maintain their own do-not-call list, to honor a request to stop within ten (10) business days, and not to sell, transfer, or otherwise disclose your information to anyone else.
Service providers
We share information with vendors that perform services on our behalf, such as web hosting and database hosting, analytics and advertising measurement (Google), error monitoring (Sentry), and transactional email delivery (Resend). These vendors are bound by confidentiality and data-use obligations and may use your information only as needed to provide their services to us.
Legal and business transfers
We may disclose information when required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect our rights, to investigate fraud or violations of our terms, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.
Sponsored content in our emails
From time to time we may include sponsored content from an advertiser inside marketing emails that we send, and we may be paid for it. In those cases BK Benefits Consultants always sends the message and controls what it says. The advertiser never receives our contact list, any part of it, or any information identifying you individually — not your address, not whether you opened the message, not whether you clicked. Advertisers receive only aggregate totals. Sponsored content is identified as advertising.
What we do not do
We do not hand our marketing contact list, or any segment of it, to a third party for that party to use directly. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16. We do not use the information you give us to build advertising audiences, and we do not provide it to advertising platforms for that purpose — see Section 6.
We do not ask you health questions, and we do not analyze what you tell us to infer anything about your health. We do not score, segment, tag, or route your inquiry based on any guess about your health status or any condition you might have.
5. Your Choices
- Withdrawing your transfer authorization. Use Your Privacy Choices — or any other reasonable means — to withdraw the authorization you gave on the request form and tell us not to transfer your information to a producer named on our roster. You can do this at any time. It covers information we already hold as well as anything you send later, and we re-check it before every transfer. Withdrawing stops the transfer; it does not erase what you already sent us, and stopping our own calls, texts or email is a separate choice — see the bullets below.
- Email. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out of marketing email at any time. Once you do, we also stop transferring your email address to anyone else.
- SMS. Reply STOP to any text message from us to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
- Phone. You can ask us to add you to our internal Do Not Call list by emailing team@selfemployedhealthbenefits.com.
- Withdrawing consent. You can revoke your consent to be contacted at any time and by any reasonable means — replying STOP to a text, telling us on a call, or emailing us. We honor revocations within ten (10) business days.
- Cookies. Use the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer to manage analytics and advertising cookies on this Site. Most browsers also let you block, delete, or get notified about cookies entirely. See Section 6 for full detail.
- Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out, as described in Section 6.
6. Cookies, Analytics & Advertising
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for three purposes: (a) to make the Site work and remember choices you’ve made (including your cookie preferences), (b) to understand how visitors find and use the Site, and (c) to measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
Categories we use
- Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to function — for example, the first-party cookie that remembers your cookie choices. Always active; cannot be turned off.
- Analytics. Google Analytics 4, loaded through the Google tag. Helps us understand how visitors find and use the Site so we can improve the content and the request-form flow. Sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Advertising measurement. Google Ads conversion measurement, using the same Google tag. This lets us measure whether our ads lead to inquiries, using identifiers such as the Google click identifier (gclid). Ads personalization is disabled for this Site: we do not build remarketing lists or personalized-advertising audiences from your visits, and no visit to this Site is used to target you with personalized ads elsewhere. That is a deliberate policy choice for a website about health coverage, not a technical limitation.
- Cookieless analytics. Ahrefs Web Analytics. A privacy-friendly analytics tool that measures page views and traffic sources without setting cookies or collecting personal identifiers. Because it does not store data on your device or use cross-site tracking, it loads on every visit regardless of your cookie choices.
Error monitoring and email delivery
The Site uses Sentry, an error-monitoring service provider, to capture technical error data (such as browser and device information and the technical state of the page) when something on the Site breaks, so we can fix it. We use Resend, a transactional email delivery provider, to deliver the emails the Site sends in connection with your inquiry. Both act as service providers under the obligations described in Section 4.
How we ask for your consent
When you first visit the Site, we present a cookie notice. Where required by law, we obtain your opt-in consent before setting any analytics or advertising cookies, and in those regions only strictly necessary cookies are active until you make a choice. In the United States, analytics and advertising-measurement cookies are active by default under a notice model; you can turn them off at any time. You can review or change your cookie choices at any time using the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer of the Site, which lets you turn analytics and advertising-measurement cookies on or off (they are managed together on this Site). Strictly necessary cookies remain on either way. Your cookie choices are separate from — and neither grant nor replace — the contact consent described in our Terms of Use.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal and you have not yet made an explicit cookie choice on this Site, we treat the signal as an opt-out of analytics and advertising-measurement cookies, regardless of your location. If you have since made an explicit choice via the cookie notice or “Your Privacy Choices,” that choice controls; you can change it at any time.
Server-side conversion measurement
When you submit the request form, our server sends a conversion event to Google Analytics. That event carries a randomly generated lead identifier and the same pseudonymous Google Analytics client and session identifiers described in Section 2 — never your name, email address, or phone number.
Audit record
When you interact with the cookie notice, we record the choice itself, the time, the IP address and browser the choice came from, the version of this Privacy Policy and the cookie notice that was current at the time, and the verbatim notice copy you saw. We keep this record so we can demonstrate compliance with applicable privacy laws.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as we have an ongoing legitimate business need, including responding to your inquiry, marketing our products and services to you over time (whether or not you become a customer), complying with legal and regulatory obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements. We typically retain inquiry-form contact information for seven (7) years from your last meaningful contact with us, after which we delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner by contacting us; we will honor that request to the extent we are not required to retain the information by applicable law.
Consent records. When you give us consent to contact you, we create a record of that consent — the timestamp, your IP address and browser (user agent), the page on which you consented, and the exact version of the disclosure text you agreed to. We retain consent records for at least five (5) years, and otherwise on the schedule above.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Your Rights
We extend the following to everyone who contacts us, regardless of where you live. You do not need to establish that a particular state’s law covers you.
- Know and access. Ask what personal information we hold about you, where we got it, why we have it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correct. Ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Delete. Ask us to delete what we hold, subject to records we are required to keep — consent records in particular. Where an exception applies we will tell you which.
- Withdraw your transfer authorization. Tell us not to transfer your information to a licensed insurance producer named on our roster, at any time, through Your Privacy Choices.
- Opt out of contact. Stop calls, texts, or marketing email by any reasonable means — see our Do Not Call Policy.
- No retaliation. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lesser level of service because you exercised any of these rights.
- Appeal. If we decline a request, we will tell you why, and you may appeal by replying to our decision. We will respond to an appeal within forty-five (45) days with a written explanation.
To exercise any of these, use Your Privacy Choices or email team@selfemployedhealthbenefits.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will ask only for what is needed to do that. We respond within forty-five (45) days and will tell you if we need longer. There is no charge.
Missouri residents. We are a Missouri-licensed insurance entity producer and our handling of the information you give us is governed by Missouri’s insurance privacy rules. Those rules let us disclose your information to a producer who is not affiliated with us where you have authorized it and have not withdrawn that authorization. That is what the transfer authorization on the request form and Your Privacy Choices are for: you tell us yes in advance, in writing, and you can take it back at any time.
11. Updates & Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through additional means where required by law.
